Please join us for a conversation and slide presentation with Max J. Friedman, author of Painful Joy: A Holocaust Family Memoir.

Part memoir, part genealogical mystery, and part history, the book is the heartwarming and heartbreaking tale of the author's parents, two Holocaust survivors who met in Sweden after their liberation and experienced the "painful joy" of a love too often touched by death.
