#GivingTuesday

Are you a Friend of the Larchmont Public Library? If you are already a Friend, we thank you for your past support and urge you to renew or increase your support. If you are not yet a Friend, please consider joining us.

The Friends of the Larchmont Public Library is a tax-exempt membership organization independent of the Library. Our mission is “bring people together through cultural, literary, and educational events and to raise funds to support our public library’s goal to remain a vital community resource.” Our board members are residents of the area who willingly give their time, resources and brainpower so that the entire community will benefit from a vibrant Library.

By supporting the Friends, you become a vital part of our team: Your contribution will help us supplement governmental funding to provide programs, materials and equipment that cannot be met through the Library’s annual budget. Your contribution will also support the Friends’ presentation of cultural and community interest programs throughout the year. Consider what the Friends provide to the Library and the community:

• Library Wi-Fi Network: The Friends paid for the recent upgrading of the Library’s wireless network, and we defray the monthly operating costs of the network. Library patrons use it every day when the Library is open.

Literary and Cultural Programs: Usually presented at 4:00 p.m. on Sundays, featuring authors, art experts, critics, musicians, and performing groups.
Museum Pass Program: Borrowable passes that allow free admission to a range of New York-area museums including the American Museum of Natural History, the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, the Guggenheim, the Hudson River Museum, and others.
Library Equipment and Technology: In addition to funding the self-checkout kiosks, the Friends respond to Library needs for furniture, equipment, and technology.

Children’s Programs and Events: Scare Crow Festival, Stuffed Animal Sleepover and a variety of child-centric performances and activities.

Books for the Homebound: Enabling delivery and return of books and audiobooks for homebound individuals in our community.

Larchmont Train Station Library Book Shelf: Stocked and tended by the Friends, with books free for the taking!

Annual Larchmont Open – Mini-Golf IN the Library: We turn the Library into an 18-hole mini-golf course on a February weekend, providing fun for adults and kids. (This year, the Larchmont Open will be held February 9-10, 2019).
Magazine Subscription Program: Raising funds for subscriptions to enhance the Library’s collections of periodicals.

Annual Larchmont Spelling Bee: Where members of the community team up for a friendly, annual etymological competition before an appreciative public audience. (This year, the Bee will be held on April 7, 2019.)

All of this is made possible through community support of the Friends. So, please be a Friend of the Library – help us fulfill our mission by starting or renewing your friendship.

Your tax-deductible contribution will help maintain the Larchmont Public Library’s central role in our community and support our programs and other cultural offerings. Thank you for your support. See you at the Library!

With best wishes for the New Year,

Sincerely,

Richard Levy, Jr.
President, on behalf of the Board of Directors
